The ingredients needed to make Masoor bhaji:
  1. Get 1 cup masoor dal
  2. Get 1 onion chopped
  3. Prepare 1 tsp. garlic chopped
  4. Take 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  5. Prepare 2 green chillies
  6. Take 1/2 Tsp garam masala
  7. Make ready 6-8 curry leaves
  8. Prepare to taste Salt
  9. Make ready 1/4 cup grated coconut and coriander leaves chopped for garnishi
  10. Prepare 1/2 tsp. mustard and cumin seeds
  11. Take 1/4 tsp. hing

From then onwards I wanted to try the recipe. I do not know how the authentic recipe is made. I created this akkha masoor recipe remembering the taste, aroma and flavors of the akkha masoor which we had. This recipe came very close to.

Instructions to make Masoor bhaji:
  1. Soak dal for 1/2 hour with water just over the dal.
  2. In a kadhai take oil add mustard and cumin. Add hing the mix.
  3. Add curry leaves, green chillies and onions and saute.
  4. Drain water and add dal and and mix well
  5. Add garam masala salt and saute. Cover lid and cook for 5-8 mins and stir in between
  6. Add coconut and coriander leaves and mix and cook for 2 mins. And serve

The masoor bhaji that Mummy makes with chapatis was one of my favorite dinners growing up! It reflects the beauty of cooking with simple ingredients to get a nutritious, yet delicious, meal! Here is my Mom's recipe for you! Take the leftover cooked masoor, add water and mash these really good. Add mashed masoor in the sabzi and mix well.
