The ingredients needed to make Hungarian Goulash:
  1. Prepare Ingredients (some subject to your tastes)
  2. Prepare 1 medium White Onion
  3. Get 1 tbsp Paprika (hot if possible)
  4. Make ready 3 large Carrots (chopped)
  5. Make ready 1 Plain Flour
  6. Take 2 medium Potatoes
  7. Make ready 1/2 box mushrooms
  8. Make ready 1 large Red Bell Pepper
  9. Get 1/4 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  10. Make ready 1 Salt & pepper to taste
  11. Take 1 Stock cube (beef)
  12. Make ready 1 can Chopped Tomatoes
  13. Prepare 400 ml Water
  14. Get 4 tbsp Cooking Oil
  15. Take 1 kg Diced Lean Beef
Steps to make Hungarian Goulash:
  1. In a suitable bowl add enough flour to dredge the beef in. Now its up to you what you season the flour with but at this stage I use Paprika, Salt, Cayenne Pepper and Black Pepper. Mix it into the flour then coat all your beef, remove each piece to another bowl.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed, deep, stockpot.
  3. Add chopped onion and Paprika, fry until onion softens
  4. Add your beef. I purposely haven't specified an amount as its up to you. I normally use about 1kg myself
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and water, this will help remove any flour that's stuck at the bottom of the pan. Dont add so much water it becomes Too runny though, you can add more during the cooking process.
  6. Add ALL other ingredients
  7. Transfer to oven at a medium heat or better still a slow cooker
  8. Taste and stir regularly, I normally have mine in the oven at approx 160°F for 6 hours!!!!
  9. Serve with fresh bread
