The South African national dish, bobotie, is a meat pie of coarsely ground lamb with plenty of curry, bay or lemon leaves and fruits, covered with a custard of milk and eggs, as homey and much loved as meatloaf is in the United States. In a medium bowl, mix together milk and bread to soften it.
Instructions to make Bobotie:
- Preheat oven to 175 degrees and lightly grease oven dish.
- Heat oil in the pan and fry onion until soft. Add mince, fry until it's brown.
- Soak bread into milk and squeeze the access milk from the bread. Add the bread to the mince mixture, while you put your milk aside. Stir in chutney, curry powder, salt and pepper.

- Return bobotie to the oven to bake until top is golden brown. About 25 - 30 minutes. Serve with yellow rice.
