  1. Heat a tawa dry roast ¼ cup urad dal on low flame.roast until the dal turns aromat.Try to hold the roasted urad dal in your palms you shouldn't be able to hold it should be hot enough.
  2. Cool completely, and blend to a fine powder.sieve the urad dal flour.
  3. Roast the rice flour in tawa for 2-3 minutes on low flame. You should be able draw a string with the roasted flour.That is the perfect texture for the flour.
  4. Add 1¼ cup rice flour,1/4cup urad dal flour, 1 tbsp butter, 1 tsp sesame seeds, pinch hing and ¾ tsp salt.
  5. Combine and mix well making sure the butter is combined well.further, add water as required and knead a dough.
  6. Knead to a smooth and soft dough. if the dough is too stiff then murukku will break when you try to shape.If the dough is too soft then murukku will absorb oil. so make sure to make a dough of correct consistency.
  7. Grease the chakli maker with some oil.place the dough inside maker.
  8. Drop the murukku and fry on medium flame till they turn crispy from both sides.let it cool down and serve.
