No Tandoor (Clay Oven) or Modern Oven Needed. No magic ingredients and no lengthy fermentation, just a simple recipe with quick cooking on stove top! This tawa naan recipe is a butter naan without tandoor. Most Indian's don't have tandoors in thier kitchens, but all do have a tawa.
Steps to make Butter naan:
- Mix well flour, baking powder, instant yeast, sugar, salt, oil and yogurt in a deep bowl.
- Add the milk to it littile by littile and knead well for about 8 to 10 minutes to make a smooth dough.
- Apply littile oil all over the prepared dough and keep it covered with a wet towel for about 2 hours to rise.
- Knock the dough and make small balls out of it and keep it covered for another half an hour.
- Roll it by dusting littile flour. It should be littile thick.
- Pull the rolled dough from one side to get naan shape.
- Sprinkle some coriander/ parsley leaves on one side of the rolled dough and roll it again littile.
- Put it in a medium hot pan and cover it with lid and cook for about 30 seconds or so.
- Then turn to other side and cook for another 30 seconds covered.
- Brush both sides with butter and cook till it turns golden brown. - Repeat the process with remaining dough. Serve hot !
