- Wash rice and dal separately.
- In a pressure cooker add 3 cups water and add dal and rice. Add salt and turmeric powder. Mix well. Pressure cook for 3 whistles and set aside
- Now to make the tadka in a kadhai add ghee and heat. Add cumin seeds. When it splutters add chopped onions, whole red chilli, chopped green chillies and stir onions until translucent. Add ginger-garlic paste and stir.
- Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and stir well for 4-5 mins.
- Add the tadka to khichri and stir well.
- Plate and enjoy Khichri
